We recently were retained to help a client new to us gain a better understanding of the dynamics unique to her business.

The owner was frustrated by the fact her firm was losing money despite several years of increases in both customers and revenues. After a thorough analysis of all the data contained in her financial statements, we showed her how the firm's variable costs and overhead were having an adverse impact on profitability.

Accordingly, we made two recommendations: Eliminate one management position and institute a 16% price increase. On the basis of our analysis and her understanding of the previously hidden factors, she acted on our recommendations. The following year, the company survived in a declining market, maintained its customer base, continued to provide stable jobs to its 150 employees - and earned a profit.
